The GDPR is the European Union's data protection regulation, applicable from 25 May 2018. It aims to ensure the protection of EU citizens' personal data. The GDPR is therefore directly applicable to all organisations that process personal data. In Hungary, the National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information monitors compliance with the Regulation and can impose significant fines if personal data is processed inappropriately.
